You must have at least 3-5 years experience in the printing industry working with demanding clients. You know how to write up accurate and detailed job tickets that make it impossible for your colleagues to misunderstand what needs to be done. You know when to seek additional information from the client or your colleagues in order to meet that goal. You become familiar enough with the client to know when an instruction or request seems out of character and to do something about it. You must thrive on working at a fast pace and in producing error free projects. Jobs are typically in production for only 1-48 hours. So, you need to be organized, flexible and think of the workflow.
Aside from years of experience in the printing industry you should also be familiar with computer-based management systems, ours is PrintSmith though we are transitioning to Presswise. Another plus would be experience in job estimating and billing. Excellent communication skills are a given since you will be our primary contact with the client. While specific clients will be assigned to you, you should be prepared to assist any client at any time.
